As part of National Park City Week – InspiralLondon hosts a 48 hour relay walk of London’s spiralling Metropolitan Trail. By joining as one of our first Inspiral Trail Pioneers you will become an integral part of the Relay and InspiralLondon – by adding your eyes, ears and feet to our unique festival of on the ground mapping of the city, by night and by day – you will also provide your own unique set of data, memories and observations to add to our mapping.
By becoming a pioneer you are not obliged to walk all of the trail relay but the suggested donation supports the project and allows us to provide you with your own unique map of the trail, relay programme; plus pioneer booklet in which you can log your progress.
All pioneers will be given instructions and guidance, joining Inspiral artists on this epic summer exploration. As part of the campaign to make London a National Park City, we will be observing and recording the flora and fauna found along the trail by night and by day; recording green spaces – expecially overlooked hotspots of bio-diversity; the urban forest and street trees; traces of past nightlife and the city through the daily cycle, from dusk to dawn, from dawn to dusk. Further information will be provided once you have signed up.
There will be a number of stops and places along the way for you to join this relay and play your part in supporting the mapping project – walking sections from 1 hour to 2 hours long (or from 2 hours up to 8 hours). Depending on your enthusiasm and time you can dip in for short part of the journey or go deep-inspiralling and walk for 12 hours plus. See the city and this mini walking relay as your first steps to becoming an inspiraller, and towards the ambition to complete the whole 300 mile trail over the next months and years.
