SUMMARY:Thameside Migrations - Africa to the Arctic and Back Again - BH365 Event
DESCRIPTION:On 21 May Thameside Migrations 3-5pm free BOOKING HERE\nJoin us for a gentle walk workshop with an introduction to bird migration – the three main visitors to the UK from Africa that use the wetlands along the river include: African Terns\, types of marten or swift\, and African reed warblers. \nWhy do they travel so far and where do they come from? Much of this remains a mystery but in Late Spring as the leaves unfurl and insects busy themselves multiplying their activity a variety of migrating birds come and feed and breed in the temperate summer. With longer days and an intensity of green flowering the birds take advantage of the welcome refuge at Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park. For this event we take a birds’ eye perspective of travel\, exchange and interaction… and trace a new history of migration and exchange. \nThis short gentle walk is a companion to the Saturday Distant Sounds of Migration walk (24 May) and to Tidal Migrations Livestream (on International Dawn Chorus weekend 3/4 May) in partnership with Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Centre TCV. Depending on weather and conditions we will either walk just in the park or follow a walk along the Thames and on the foreshore. \n24 May Distant Sounds of Migration 2 -4.30pm Meeting at Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park\, Gatehouse.  A Short Walk exploring migration and other listening in the city with Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park. Exploring and celebrating the migrant birds that come to feed and nest in Greenwich alongside the introduction of plants\, people and customs from the Caribbean and from Africa  – all parts of the rich diversity supported in the Boroughs multicultural networks.

SUMMARY:Re/Walk Segment 29 - Ruislip Gardens to Hayes & Harlington
DESCRIPTION:Join Inspiral Director Charlie Fox for an Evening Re/Walk Segment 29 Ruislip Gardens to Hayes & Harlington (on Tuesday 27 May from 5-8.30pm). BOOK HERE \nWalking from Ruislip Gardens we pick up the Yeading Brook trail and pass the hidden wetland of Ickenham Marsh on the edge of RAF Northolt. As we head southwestwards we follow the Brook\, then heading due south towards the Grand Union canal as the trail approaches the soundsacpe of Heathrow and the Crane River valley pathway. \nInspiralLondon’s Re/Walk Festival – Excavate\, Explore\, Exchange – Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Trail with a festival of seven unique walks that take you to other hidden and less well-known parts of the city; detouring from the trail\, in exploring underexplored\, buried aspects of the city or walking together by night. \nWe wish to share the magic and multiplicity of the city with all its diverse inhabitants\, and to get you walking; to explore the city with renewed curiosity\, by excavating the other buried narratives and histories that make London so unique. Together\, we re/walk and re/make the city by foot. \n \nRe/walk is generously supported by tfl WCGL grant\, the Royal Borough of Greenwich and other walking/artist group partners such as Kinetika\, T-100 and soundcamp.
