Picking up the re-walking of the complete InspiralLondon trail with Director Charlie Fox. This walk will trace some conscious and unconscious steps toward Batter Sea\, a new land submerged in gigantesque furniture and with its glittering unreal reefs. This walk led by InspiralLondon associates and artist collectively – as Starting from the edge of Battersea Park to Larkhill by Stockwell\, to Slade Gardens\, we reach Myatts Fields by noon; through Love Walk find St Giles Church Gardens\, Lucas\, then Sceaux to go along Surrey Canal. Then unexpectedly wander with Bird in the Bush to Old Kent\, passing Pilgrim Way School\, to finally find our way on the South Bermondsey Greenway. \nThis day of urban ecology exploration culminates in Soundings Beneath Southwark a short artist-led walk from Dilston Grove at the edge of Southwark Park to end at Stave Hill near to The Thames on Rotherhithe Peninsula (See more details below or on next walk –  booking essential for this special event). \nLater on Saturday May 4 from 2pm-3.45pm (SIGN UP on next page)\n \nMeet at Dilston Grove in Southwark Park join us for a short walk from Southwark Park Gallery towards Stave Hill Ecology Park detouring through Southwark Park towards the river Thames at Rotherhithe Village with InspiralLondon associate artists Gail Dickerson\, Keith Turpin\, Isa Suarez and Charlie Fox – a unique perspective on what lies beneath our feet – exploring geology\, tunnelling\, waste\, soil and grounding underground sound. DESCRIPTION:Inspiral ReWalk of Segment 7 – Underground/Overground Resounding 2-4pm Meet Canada Water \nFor those who enjoy walking to a gently hummed refrain we start the segment trail at 2pm – meeting at the main ticket barriers in the entrance of Canada Water Tube – to ride the Jubilee underground together to Canary Wharf. This sounding asks us to hear to the mechanical underground choir with artist Mikey Georgeson before the start of a short exploration of the Wharf rounding a collective refrain overground\, working our way up to the Limehouse Cut and toward Bow Church. \nIf you are late or cannot make it to Canada Water then come direct to Hilton Dock Ferry North Terminus by 2.30pm for this detouring walk via the empty plinth at London Docklands Museum. JD Swann will then guide you towards Leyton Flats\, pass Hollow Ponds to Lea Bridge Road\, to end either on the Lea Bridge Road (buses) or to walk onto Wood Green \n \nYou can join a short part of this Epic Epping Forest Walk at The Green Man Interchange (near Leytonstone Station) where we will share in some inspirallondon refreshments including foraged forest foods – to then walk to Hollow Ponds on towards Wood Street. \nFor this shorter leg of the walk – you can join us at 3.45pm – at the centre of the Green Man Interchange where we will be taking refreshments in the centre of the extraordinary biodiverse oasis within the busy A12 interchange. DESCRIPTION:Re-Walk Segment 14 InspiralLondon Trail from Wood Street to Silver Street \nOn Sunday May 12 from 2-5.30pm – Meet at Wood Street Station Sign up HERE\n \nto explore Waltham Forest Trail – from Wood Street to Silver Street – encountering a rich variety of forest\, park\, garden and street trees. \nFor those wishing only to do a short walk you can follow the first part of the  trail just to the William Morris House Gallery and Gardens and take time to explore the trees and gardens surrounding the House. There is also an opportunity to visit the adjoining Lloyd Park and enjoy the Museum Cafe facilities. The park was originally the garden and grounds surrounding Morris’ childhood home; an inspiration for his love of nature. We will spend some time looking at variety of tree leaves\, collecting samples\, and thinking of patterns of nature as central to Arts & Crafts movement. \nFor the adventurous we will continue from Lloyd Park to Walthamstow Town Hall and Fellowship Square. Then we will explore the urban canopy and undergrowth as we walk on across Waltham Forest toward Silver Street. \nWe will allow everyone some time to enjoy the Gallery\, cafe and facilities at William Morris Gardens but please bring refreshments and snacks to share if you plan on walking to Silver Street. \nAt the end of the walk\, we plan to go on to Pymmes Brook\, to explore this hidden stream and celebrate the urban forest with a shared picnic. At the end of this short exploratory walk we will take light refreshments and enjoy a shared picnic. \nThis short walk and picnic will celebrate the completion of the spring season of Rewalking the Trail. With over 14 segments re-mapped/re-walked\, we reflect on the themes and variations of our collective walking\, and look forward to the second half of the year – following the trail as it traverses the outer Boroughs of London. \nPart of Re-walking InspiralLondon Trail 2024-25.\nIn 2015 an intrepid group of walking artists finished mapping a new spiral trail\, tracing a pathway through 30 London Boroughs. From there we start out on a sensory walk that explores Urban Trees/Undergrowth/Urban Forest Canopy and 3 rivers – this hidden underexplored nature that intertwines and meanders among the tarmac\, concrete and brick. \nFor those unable to make the start but would like to experience a short inspirallondon walk you can come and join this walk in the evening for a short slow walking from 7.30-8.45pm and experience London walking in a totally other way.
