DESCRIPTION:March 1st 4-7pm Re-nighting at Kings Cross – meet at Kings Cross Plinth Start. \nIn order to design the spiral trail a group of walking-artists gathered at this spot\, 10 years ago\, to give birth to a spiral trail that walks you out from Central London\, to spiral ten times\, anticlockwise towards Gravesend. \nTonight we start our journey again\, to Re-Walk the InspiralLondon Trail. Meeting here\, at its origin in searching together for a centre for the City – its energy at Kings Cross Square. \n \nFor this evening walk you can join us for a short walk of 1.5 mile\nBy joining us at 4pm at the empty plinth in Kings Cross Square to launch and hear the Spiral Re-Walking story unfold. Be prepared to be surprised… \n \nOr Meet us later at 5pm at the entrance of St Pancras New Church for a taste of Bloomsbury and Culpeper (approx. 1.5 miles) \n \nOr meet at 6pm in Barnards Park as darkness descends at the entrance to Barnards Park Adventure Playground to explore other ways to be and see the city\, together at night (c. 2 miles) \n \nBut for all inspiral newcomers we invite you to enjoy the full inspiral experience by walking together with InspiralLondon Director Charlie Fox in the early evening out from Kings Cross Square until Camden Town (this option to follow the full walk from 4-7pm of 5 miles) \nFor this long weekend of short and longer walking join Inspiral walking artists to re map the central core of the trail\, from the empty plinth in Kings Cross Square\, round central London\, with a de-centred step\, towards Finsbury Park. \nThese short linked walks offers a magical unexpected taster and opening to the majesty and scope of the trail – as we re-walk together through 2024-2025\, in conversation with the ever changing cityscape of London. Exploring together in a fun way the sounds and resonances that lie beneath us we walk the surface of the streets and greenways. \nWe will then walk onto Stave Hill Ecology Park to join Reveil 11 for A live sound intervention with composer Isa Suarez: A multi-sensory exploration where we will feel the earth\, listen to its soil and the resonance of the air – culminating into an interactive performance.\nExpect the unexpected through deep collective listening\, live sound and sonic meditations . DESCRIPTION:Inspiral ReWalk of Segment 7 – Underground/Overground Resounding 2-4pm Meet Canada Water \nFor those who enjoy walking to a gently hummed refrain we start the segment trail at 2pm – meeting at the main ticket barriers in the entrance of Canada Water Tube – to ride the Jubilee underground together to Canary Wharf. This sounding asks us to hear to the mechanical underground choir with artist Mikey Georgeson before the start of a short exploration of the Wharf rounding a collective refrain overground\, working our way up to the Limehouse Cut and toward Bow Church. \nIf you are late or cannot make it to Canada Water then come direct to Hilton Dock Ferry North Terminus by 2.30pm for this detouring walk via the empty plinth at London Docklands Museum. This segment of the trail\, following the Lee along the gentle rising terrain\, explores empty plinths and raised platforms that plot the unremarked elevation in the landscape. DESCRIPTION:Re-Walk Segment 14 InspiralLondon Trail from Wood Street to Silver Street \nOn Sunday May 12 from 2-5.30pm – Meet at Wood Street Station Sign up HERE\n \nto explore Waltham Forest Trail – from Wood Street to Silver Street – encountering a rich variety of forest\, park\, garden and street trees. \nFor those wishing only to do a short walk you can follow the first part of the  trail just to the William Morris House Gallery and Gardens and take time to explore the trees and gardens surrounding the House. There is also an opportunity to visit the adjoining Lloyd Park and enjoy the Museum Cafe facilities. The park was originally the garden and grounds surrounding Morris’ childhood home; an inspiration for his love of nature. We will spend some time looking at variety of tree leaves\, collecting samples\, and thinking of patterns of nature as central to Arts & Crafts movement. \nFor the adventurous we will continue from Lloyd Park to Walthamstow Town Hall and Fellowship Square. Then we will explore the urban canopy and undergrowth as we walk on across Waltham Forest toward Silver Street. \nWe will allow everyone some time to enjoy the Gallery\, cafe and facilities at William Morris Gardens but please bring refreshments and snacks to share if you plan on walking to Silver Street. \nAt the end of the walk\, we plan to go on to Pymmes Brook\, to explore this hidden stream and celebrate the urban forest with a shared picnic. DESCRIPTION:Join our summer season of ReWalking on Segment 15 – Silver Street to Woodside Park.\nPlease SIGN UP here \nWe meet at 2.30pm (22 June 2024) outside the eixt of Siver Street Station (Overground)\, close to Pymmes Brook Park. This segment follows something of the Pymmes Brook Pathway (devised the intrepid rambler and walk designer Colin Saunders)\, to follow the pathway of a redesigned Segment 15.Tracing the Brook nearby the main roads we encounter some extraordinary bucolic scenes before reaching Arno’s Park. Here we will stop and marvel at the Arno Park viaduct and luxuriate in its cooling archways\, strolling by the Brook. Then we leave the Pymmes Brook Trail at Waterfall road\, to cascade toward Woodside Park. On the way we traverse Bethine Park and the unexpected wildness in Friary Park where we cross another ‘un/lost’ brook – Blacketts Brook. \n“Pymmes Brook is one of North London’s longer rivers\, though not especially well known. It flows mostly through Barnet and Enfield\, for the most part above ground\, then somewhere around Edmonton heads underground before emerging as a tamed brutalist channel. Then we walk quickly to Beckenham Place Park\, with all its resonances and beauty. Leaving the oakwoods we cross the Ravensbourne river to make our walk north east to Grove Park. DESCRIPTION:Ritual Spiral Collaborative Walk 6-7.30pm\nJoin us for unique InspiralLondon Event – In/Spiral Collaborative Drawing Walk. \nDuring this short exploratory walk we will be inviting all walkers to make a collaborative drawing together\, devised and led by artists Gail Dickerson\, Birgitta Hosea and Sarah Sparkes. (Walk is approx 1.25 miles long). Please SIGN UP here. \nTo join us on this unique re-walking of InspiralLondon Trail meet at 6pm at the exit of Woolwich Station – Elisabeth line. From here we will follow InspiralLondon’s Charlie Fox\, detouring to the buried site of London’s greatest Celtic oppida\, located somewhere beneath Maribor Park. At this place we will form a first experimental spiral before walking to the rotunda of Woolwich Foot Tunnel (Southside).\nArtists Birgitta Hosea and Sarah Sparkes will then invite you join in this Ritual Collaborative Drawing on the Thames foreshore. And Gail Dickerson will Inspiral us through the layers of London’s geology encountered on the journey as we reach the foreshore – Inspiralling through London Clay\, Claygate\, and River Terrace Deposits… Time travel spiral walking adventure.\n\n\n\n\nFor all those walkers joining us for this early evening walk event (Part of InspiralLondon ReWalk\, ReMap\, ReTell 2024-2025) we will be crossing under the river by foot for the last time on the trail rewalk – as the pathway takes its final spiral anticlockwise northwards towards Gravesend. On this evening we will be inviting you to make a collaborative drawing together and enjoy some light refreshments – north of the river. You are also invited to bring some light refreshments to share.\n\n\nThis unique walking event follows a short detour off the trail before spiralling our way to the southern entrance of Woolwich Foot Tunnel. Here\, descending to time travel across to the North side of the Thames\, by foot and timeslip. When we reach the north side we will gather again to make the colloborative spiral drawing in the nearby Royal Victoria Gardens. From one side clockwise\, the other anticlock ways – proof of the strange magic geometery that encircles InspiralLondon – and the origin of the pathway in the double helix of London’s Celtic spiral. Artists Birgitta Hosea and Sarah Sparkes invite to join in this Ritual Collaborative Drawing on the Thames foreshore. DESCRIPTION:Walking from Gallions Reach DLR\, up along the Roding Valley through Barking and onto Gants Hill.\nMeet at Gallions Reach DLR exit at 2pm Saturday 20 July – Sign up HERE \nJoin this beautifully varied up from near Becton Gasworks to join the tidal Roding River by the marshes. This walk passes unexpected hidden beauty and heritage sites such as the Ice Wharfs\, Barking Abbey\, Harts lane Beach\, Barking Park and Valentine’s Park. \nWander up the Roding Valley – where Mary Wollstonecraft spent her formative years of her childhood and adoloscence exploring the marshland. Before we then reenter the complex streams of urban infrastructure that divide and subdivide East London – railways\, rivers\, major roads. All the time walking close by the Saxon river Roding\, as it curves northwards  towards its source near Stansted Airport. \nThis river way nourished our walk and allows us to comtemplate once again the foundational power of water\, waterways and riverways have been in the construction of the city. Will we find the hollow oak or hear the whispering words of TE Lawrence as we plunge down the edge of Epping Forest hills to the crossing causeway over to Ponder’s End? Will the sheep be grazing on the reservoir banks? Will we hear bush crickets and bats as we pass through to Brimsdown and adventure onto the next segment to Hadleys Wood? \nFor those wishing to do only part of the walking – there is short segment from Chingford to Ponder’s End that takes in some stunning unexpected landscapes – approx 4 miles long (1.5 hours Eta: 4pm). \nOr walk further to Brimsdown – another 1.5 miles (0.45 minutes Eta: 5pm) \nOr for the adventurous keep going towards Hadley Woods (another 8 miles Eta: 7.30pm) – Trains to Kings Cross 19.17; 19.47. \nThe Overground train form Walthamstow Central is scheduled to leave at 2.01pm on Sunday to arrive at Chingford at 2.26pm. You can get the tube to Walthamstow Central – there is an earlier train from there that leaves at 13.41 arriving at Chingford at 14.06. Note there are no Sunday trains scheduled from Brimsdown or Ponders End – bus alternatives.
